SOFTWARE/HARDWARE Specialists

Department Description:

The Upgrade Operations Software Team (UOST) is one element of Upgrade Operations (UO). The team and process was created to address the need for a centralized support group to produce aftermarket firmware for customer products supported by the Radio Systems Division (RSD). Our customer base includes internal groups, external service entities, authorized dealers and self maintained customers.
On an official Factory cutover date the UOST assumes the responsibility of the expiring release no longer supported by SCOG. The UOST becomes the official source for replication while maintaining the level of quality originally provided by SCOG. Group members are responsible for maintaining an extensive onsite software library. Coupled with access to a comprehensive repository of downloadable files the UOST has the ability to easily access stored releases. Periodically the group cancels products. The UOST works closely with the business team, product planners and cancellation teams in an effort to secure parts, masters, programming hardware and documentation. The material collected is used to support a product throughout its Life Cycle.  Currently the UOST provides services to customers in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Our sister operations in Europe and Asia handle regional requests.
