Our Client provides corporate email, interactive messaging, field force automation, telemetry, and other advanced wireless data services through its highly reliable, nationwide Mobitex packet data network.


Responsibilities:
Installation, maintenance and repair of the Wireless Mobitex wireless data network.

Testing and monitoring network for quality and reliability, including: base station and area/region data switching center inspections, performing preventative maintenance, and performing routine repairs, emergency repairs and upgrades.

Ensuring maximum network availability consistent with Client’s Wireless’ network availability objectives.

Corrects network alarms consistent with Client’s Wireless’ response time and service restoration objectives.

Supports new clients during initial start-up, identifies and corrects current customer problems, and verifies and documents resolution in order to maximize customer satisfaction.

Supports Sales at shows and demos by providing coverage tests and technical information, conducting and supporting simulation tests of prototype packages and documenting results, installing bi-directional amplifiers, and supporting point of sale installations and customer host connections.

Identifying and resolving radio frequency interference, RF coverage issues, network throughput, network RF and data transmission problems.

Documenting all maintenance actions and changes in fixed assets consistent with the inventory control systems in order to ensure accountability and availability of installed and spare equipment. Packs and ships materials and equipment.

Based in the Metro Washington DC/Suburban MD area, there is extensive travel throughout Washington DC, Baltimore, and the state of MD.

Travel to other areas of the East Region will occur and travel to other Regions may occur occasionally.


Qualifications
Two year college degree, technical institute certificate, related military training or equivalent related job experience

Three to five years related experience

Must be able to move equipment up to 75 pounds

Must be able to work overtime hours

FCC General Class Radiotelephone, NABER Certificate or equivalent certification is a plus

Two or more years field experience installing, maintaining and repairing data radio and data communications equipment and systems is required

Prior repair and maintenance experience in a trunked or data radio network environment is desired

Soldering and mechanical skills required

Thorough knowledge of antenna systems, telecommunications equipment, data communications equipment, computers, modems, routers, AC and DC power systems, battery plants and UPS systems is essential

Familiar with a PC and typical business applications (i.e. MS Office)

Familiar with data communications protocols, including: X.25, MASC, HDLC, TCP-IP, and SNA

Strong troubleshooting skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Valid US drivers license required

Ability to read and write technical reports

Ability to use the following equipment: communication service monitor, BERT tester, Fireberd DDS test set, analog telco TIMS equipment, TDR, laptop computer, protocol analyzer, spectrum analyzer, frequency counter, RF data analyzer and tools
